Music at St Andrew's
St Andrew's is fortunate enough to have a choir and a band, which enables us to explore a range of songs, hymns, psalms and anthems in our services.
The Choir is a robed choir whose main role is to lead the singing at our regular 10.00 am and 6.00 pm Sunday services, and at special services. The choir includes a junior choir for children who are encouraged to work towards their Royal School of Church Music medals as part of the "Voice for Life" scheme.
Their repertoire extends from traditional hymns and choral anthems to songs and choruses from "Songs of Fellowship" and similar material.
The Choir is led by Yvonne Gray and rehearsals take place on most Friday evenings but please check the Diary for details. Times tend to be approximate after the initial start time, depending on the material being rehearsed.
New members are always welcome, and it's not essential that you are able to read music! Please come along on a Friday evening if you are interested.
|7.00 - 7.30 pm||Junior choir rehearsal (in church)|
|7.30 - 8.15 pm||Full rehearsal - worship songs and anthems (in church)|
The Band is an informal group of musicians of all ages who play at our Family Services each month, at our Holiday Club, and at other special services during the year. The Band is led by Chris Parker, and currently meet as required for rehearsals.
The Bell Ringers
St Andrew's also has a well established ringing team which rings at 9.30 am and 5.30 pm for the Sunday services, with practice on Wednesdays from 7.45 to 9.00 pm.
