Finding Us

Once you have found Biggleswade, we are easy to find! St Andrew’s Church is located in Shortmead Street in Biggleswade, which is part of the main road running through the centre of Biggleswade.

By Road from the North: When travelling south on the A1, take the first exit marked Biggleswade (Sainsbury’s roundabout). Follow the road, crossing over the roundabout and the river bridge, and continue towards the town centre, until you can see a mini roundabout ahead. St Andrew’s Church is on the right just before the mini roundabout, and the church car park is situated in Ivel Gardens, the right turn just before the church.

By Road from the South: When travelling north on the A1, take the second exit marked Biggleswade (Homebase roundabout). Cross over two roundabouts and continue for about a mile, along London Road which becomes the High Street. Continue straight over at the mini roundabout in the town centre, past the Market Square and at the next mini roundabout, turn right. St Andrew’s Church is immediately on the left and the church car park can be found in Ivel Gardens, first left after the church.

By Rail: Biggleswade is on the line between Kings Cross, London and Peterborough. Trains run at least hourly during the day. From Biggleswade station, turn right down Station Road, at the Market Square turn left on to the High Street and follow High Street to the end. St Andrew’s Church will be opposite you beyond the mini roundabout.

Parking at St Andrew's

St Andrew's Church is well located for access via public transport; most buses stop in the town centre which is only 2 minutes walk away, and the railway station is only 5 minutes walk through the town centre. If you do need to park at St Andrew's there are various options:

  • The church car park is located just off of Ivel Gardens - turn left just after the Vicarage. The car park has space for 18 cars, including two accessible spaces. Please park only in the marked spaces, and do not park across the public footpath.

PLEASE ALSO TAKE GREAT CARE When entering or leaving the car park - look out for pedestrians as you cross the path, and for other vehicles from ivel gardens as you leave the car park.

  • There are two public car parks located in St Andrew's Street, within 150m of the church. These car parks are free on Sundays, but on other days there is a charge and a limit of 3 hours. From the church car park, go back out onto Ivel Gardens, turn right into Shortmead Street and at the mini-roundabout go straight ahead into St Andrew's Street. The first car park is on your left, with the second car park on the right, about 200m further along the road.
  • Space for 2 cars is also available by the main church gates, directly off of Shortmead Street, but please be careful not block access to the church gates.

Please do make use of the car parks if at all possible. The nearest public car park is only a minute's walk from the main entrance to the church, and is a very good alternative to the church car park.

If you do need to park on the roadside, please do park considerately and ensure that you do not block paths or driveways for residents and other visitors.  Thank you.
